As a social activist I understand that the traditional gallery environment makes little social impact, engaging with mainly a complicit audience and only a very small percentage of the population. The gallery role can be seen as mainly maintaining the traditional artistic status quo.
I am interested in exploring ideas outside the traditional gallery environment. This includes ideas that engage with different audiences and public spaces but also the opportunities that presenting work and ideas through time based work and also exploring the impact that social media could now offer.
