The early pattern designs were based on my collage optical pattern experimentation 40 years ago. These were influence in particular by Bridget Riley, Victor Vasarely and through the exchanged ideas with the Czech artist Jiri kolar and can be found in my archive.

i initially adapted these to create leaded light design patterns, but as the work has developed using laser cutting technology new possibilities of optical pattern design are emerging.
