Intention

These images were produced during the research stage of the large pattern collages. I was investigating ways of how two images can be revealed at the same time utilising colour, pattern  and optical effects.

Production

Theses are some of the experimental collages produced between 1982 and 1987. They were produced from images from magazines and journals that I collected and the images were produced in a variety of ways.

The single image patterns were cut out using a scalpel on a draftsman’s parallel motion drawing board. They were then repositioned using SprayMount adhesive.

The double image pictures were produced by sticking the two images on top off each other with SprayMount adhesive then cut through using a scalpel on parallel motion drawing board. The the appropriate parts of the upper image were removed to reveal the image beneath.

Combinations of there techniques were developed and used used across this range of work.
