Silkscreen cut throughs

longpattern

1984 The original silkscreen prints were produced at Camden Institute, London.

Intention

Research exploring how optical patterns could be overlaid to create a double layered optical dynamic of movement.

Production

The skills needed to produce silkscreen, including cutting screens and mixing colours. This required a lot of experimentation with colours, tones and pattern size. The final pieces were constructed by using SprayMount to stick 2 prints on top of each other on mount board. and then using a scalpel and a draftsman’s parallel motion board cut through the top layer and pick of the relevant pieces to reveal the layer beneath.
